We take in the waist from the center back, opening and reconstructing the waistband and center-back seam using industrial denim machinery and factory-style sewing techniques. The goal is a clean, durable alteration that's virtually undetectable and preserves the original appearance of your jeans.

Ordering & Fit Guidance

• Select the exact number of inches you want removed from the waist. Ordering by a different labeled jean size does not provide enough information for an accurate alteration.
• Reducing the waist 2 inches or more can affect proportions, particularly on smaller sizes where the rear pockets may move closer together.
• For seat-fit problems, send us a photo wearing the jeans so we can better evaluate the adjustment.
• We can also reduce the seat without changing the waist.
• This service alters your garment to the measurements provided. Reference pants cannot be submitted for copying or matching.

Important Fit & Alteration Disclaimer

Taking in the waist works best when correcting a moderate fit issue. We do not recommend trying to reduce jeans that are multiple sizes too large. Removing a large amount from the waist can change the balance and proportions of the jeans rather than simply making them fit like a smaller size.

Results may vary when reducing the waist by more than 2 inches, especially on smaller sizes. Larger reductions can affect the seat, rise, waistband shape, and rear pocket spacing. We will preserve the original appearance and construction as much as possible, but some changes may be unavoidable.

Please make sure you are comfortable with the amount of reduction requested before ordering. All alteration services are non-refundable once work has begun.

Order online and select 2-way shipping at checkout to receive a prepaid shipping label. Send us your jeans, we'll complete the waist alteration in our Brooklyn denim studio, and ship them back when finished.

Local customers can bring their jeans to our Greenpoint, Brooklyn store for a professional fitting—no appointment required.
